A good query includes:
- Relevance - is it about the people in the post it's being posted to? If yes, then you are in the right place. If not, then it needs to go in another post, or on the Queries page.
- Specificity and clarity - something like "I am looking for a birth/death/marriage date for [person]." or "What was the name of [person]'s [relative - ie. spouse, parent, child, grandparent, etc.]?" Yes or no questions are also clear enough to be answered easily.
- Contact info, if a reply off-blog is requested.
